For the aerial you can go non-OEM for substantially cheaper - I've kept my OEM long aerial and just got a short one from China off of ebay for around 4 USD. Obviously it's slightly lower quality, but it's largely a part for appearance rather than actual usability.

Just for those still considering - I couldn't stomach spending R500 on a piece of wire with some rubber on it!

@MikeR did a group buy for us @ R100ea
best mod I did so far :hammerhead:

Apparently the short aerial from other manufacturers like Peugeot/Citroen also work. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything locally so I just took the plunge.

So I noticed since owning the car that the front of the car feels a bit loose. Feels like the steering is all over the road and inspected the steering components.

Found the stabilizer links and rubbers for the swaybar in need of replacement.

Got a pair of Meyle stabilizer links from Goldwagen. BMW wanted more than twice the price for theirs.

Brake pads still nice and thick

Good stuff Chris, definitely something I need to do as well sometime soon.

Do you also find the steering on the Z4 a bit active? tremlining / self correcting? I'm pretty sure I need a new steering angle sensor installed, thing is on it's own mission some days.

Ive also experienced that ''Twitchiness" on mine but I can confirm after a brand new set of non runflat tyres it has improved significantly , what does a steering angle sensor cost?

I've also gone NRF, and although improved, not what I would call normal. I have no idea what a sensor would cost, but it looks a pain to install.

Pardon the hijack Chris.

Your rear trailing arms also have alot of side to side play on them... adding a set of RTAB Limites (Costs like R550 from Axis) will greatly reduce the side to side movement on the RTAB's and drastically improve twitchiness when cornering at both high and low speeds... was a day and night difference on my car.

Indeed a valid point Clint, but not the case so much for me, perhaps also Mo, the Z4's with electric steering is knows to have a issue, its like the motor makes mini adjustments as you drive, but this happens only sometimes.

No please discuss. The more info the better. I have noticed an improvement but not a considerable improvement (still need to do swaybar bushes). But this seems to be a common problem with these cars. Its a bit annoying...

So the car has been having cooling issues. Replaced the expansion bottle and cap as coolant was leaking (original bottle was still on the car (e46 bottle known to explode)) only to find the waterpump has packed up (electrical pump know for issues on the N52, N54 engines).

So bought a brand new pump at dealers and also a thermostat housing.

Start by removing cap on expansion bottle and remove blue drain plug from radiator to drain all the coolant. Replace plug when finished draining.

Old pump and housing

Red circles indicate bolts to be removed (arrow shows hidden bolt). Use E12 Torx and 10mm Socket.

Green shows plugs to be removed, purple shows clip-style pipes (slide clip up to pull pipe off), yellow shows normal clamp rings which can be loosend with flat head or socket.

After pump is installed you need to initialise the bleeding procedure.

Remove expansion cap and bleed screw and fill till coolant seeps from bleed screw.

Replace cap and bleed screw.

Turn key to position 2, crank heat all the way up, fan on low, and press the acceleration pedal and hold for 10 sec. The pump will start up (sounds like a washing machine) and will pump all the air to the reservoir. Takes around 12 min to finish.

Open cap and fill coolant till stick shows proper level.
