This Z4 M Coupe belongs to Thomas, a new BMWfanatic who wanted to buy his dream car. He started a wanted thread here: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=76158
He lives in Cape Town and has been searching the western cape for one but sadly all that he had seen were not up to standard so he cast his net a little wider and started searching Gauteng too. He asked me to be his eyes in Johannesburg and the first one I visited was in Benoni, little rough around the edges and the motor felt sluggish/unresponsive, the diff was whining too and the car was overpriced so we continued the search.

This Z4M was the second car I saw and belonged to a fellow fanatic Brukutu who advertised the car in the beginning of the year here: http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=71358 but the car never sold until now. Brukutu brought the car to me one evening so I could inspect it and give Thomas feedback on the condition of the vehicle, he had also lowered his price significantly and the deal was made.

Pics from the first viewing:

Brukutu dropped the car off with me when the deal went through.

As Thomas wants her back to stock I got stuck in removing things, this sticker being the first to go.

Then this one, no idea what the H.O stands for.

Etag holder was next to go.

Then the go-pro mount on the roof.

Next was the parrot bluetooth kit, cell phone holder, USB chargers and tyre pressure monitoring kit to be removed.

Sub and amp were next to be deleted.

Bunch of ordered parts.

Rear bumper cover centre and LHS mount points were broken.

Found some filler.

Old and broken centre mount vs new.

All fixed up.

Broken cup holder replaced.

Air filter change.

MAF was dirty.

Cleaned with MAF cleaner but still has some stains.

RHS brake duct needed replacement.

So did RHS "pork chop".

Still need to replace those one-time-use clips.

The race wheels have been removed and the stock wheels will go on, they do need refurbishment though.

The control arms will also be replaced, Picked up new Lemforder units from Peter/Sean @Axis.

Lots more updates to come in the week. Stay tuned.

Hi All

As aforementioned - this is my car (which I have still not seen in person!)

Every time I see the images of repairs Warren is doing - from the minor to the substantial my heart gets more excited, I'll be driving the car down from JHB to CT around the 13/14th of January and will then begin my own thread detailing living with the car.

Cheers all!

Morning gents, made great progress on the car this week however my telkom line went down with many others in my area in a storm on Tuesday so waiting on that to be fixed and then I can upload the multitude of pics. Hopefully it's fixed before Monday so I can update the thread before I drive down to George for the festive season.

Replaced exhaust rubbers.

Had an unfortunate accident with my brake bleeder so had to buy a new one.

Changed the quick-fit connector and put straight to work.

Yum.

Brake discs next.

Reason for brake warning light, the sensor has melted! Never been tracked, pah!

New OEM end links.

New Lemforder front control arms and oem bushes.

I discovered a buckle on one of the rears so it was decided to refurbish all 4 rims.

Made sure to remove the electronic valves.

So, I will collect the refurbished rims in the 1st week of January and get her finished up and off to Peter for vanos and shims.
Next thread update will be in the beginning of January where I finish off my work.
Thank you.

Nice work!!

Brake bleeder details and price for us please :)

Thank you.

The vacuum brake bleeder is made by JTC Tools and I bought it from Spec Tools in Crown Mines for R2395.
Spec Tools sell specialised tools for the automotive industry, its like a toy shop for mechanics.
