Good evening fanatics, I have a friend who I used to work on his E46 M3 until he sold it, now he has a Mercedes and refuses to take it elsewhere and wants only me working on all his cars in future so here we are, my first Mercedes Benz thread:





Dropping oil.




Customer supplied parts.




Oil filter change.




Old air filters were really really dirty!



Belt still in great shape.


Windshield washer top up, first concentrate then water to the top.


Brake fluid flush

Wiper blade replacement. Merc use a colour changing sticker to notify when to replace wiper blades.




Micro filter replacement




Lastly, reset service interval via diagnostics






This being my first Mercedes Benz experience I can tell you the mechanicals are very similar to BMW, the way the car is put together is just like a BMW. The whole underside could be confused with a BMW as the whole layout and suspension looks like a 5series. It is rather interesting working on car that is so similar to BMWs, the merc parts cost alot more and the diagnostics is a little different but that's about it really. Both BMW and Mercedes source their parts from manufacturers across Germany and it shows in the similarities between the two.

Found Merc and BM parts to be roughly the same with a bit of sweet talking. 4.5k does seems oddly insane.

Seeing as this section is still open, my friend sent me pics of his merc engine the other day, he got caught in a flash flood in Kempton park, the engine ingested water and put a rod through the block. He had to write the car off, very sad end to such a clean car. Now on the hunt for something new.

i was also in one late last year close to the gautrein , LUCKILY i was cought in high ground between 2 low points, saw a datsun bakkie and a security bakkie floating.

was a shitty experience

Yeah it was a truck that washed a bow wave over the merc which pushed it into deeper water. Gizmo showed me the pics over the weekend.:blueCry:
