Hello guys,

Though I would introduce myself. Been lurking for a while. First a little backstory, I used to own a Mini GPII, but then my wife fell pregnant with my first child. Thus I needed something a little more practical. I have always been a fan of wagons and after looking around a little bit, was disappointed to find that BMW had stopped bringing in wagons.

So I decided I would buy a E91 and keep the Mini as a toy. This meant my budget was smaller than I would've liked. Eventually settled on a nice 325i E91 auto with 145k kms that was in my price range. A few months later we decided it would be a good idea to buy a house, so something had to give, and that meant I had to sell the Mini. :blueCry:

But onto the E91. I love it, its a bit thirsty but what a great car. Extremely practical and comfortable. There were a few things that had to change. Looking back, I'm disappointed I didn't hold out for an Msport but there aren't many around so I guess its not too bad. First thing I had to change was the, in my opinion, terrible wood finish. Bought some Carbon Fibre Vinyl and wrapped the interior bits. Next thing I needed to do was upgrade the stock sound, which was terrible. So replaced all speakers with Blam!, an Alpine amp and a Kenwood HU.

The next item on my list was the wheels. Found a set of 193's on the cheap off of Facebook, had them refurbished, and then stuck some Non RFT Michellin rubber on them. Completely changed the look and feel of the car.

Pretty happy with how it stands at the moment, future plans are to maybe lower it a bit and install some wheel spacers just to make the stance look a bit better. Long term I would like to upgrade the looks somehow, maybe different bumpers, but havent decided yet how to go forward.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome buddy. The wagon looks much better with the 18s. An exhaust will be nice. 325s are generally quite solid. Maybe refurbish the headlights too.

E91 was always on my wishlist, just couldn't find anything decent when I was looking.

Lol, my story is similar to yours... Z4 went when the first kid came and then I had a Mini Clubman which went not long after the second.

Can you share where you got your bumpers?

:biglol: my second might be on the way soon, but I think the E91 can handle it. Very few of them in good nick around, most have ridiculous mileage. Saw one with over 300k KMs on it.

I love the carbon finish, where did u get it from?

Got it from a place called Pit In Motorsport on Old Pretoria Road next to Dekra, but you could probably pick it up at any automotive shop, I think it was R100 for a square meter, which was just about enough. Go for the matt carbon fibre though, I didn't like the gloss look.

Thanks everyone,

Where can you recommend I go in the JHB area for suspension work? When the guys were busy with my wheel alignment, they said there was "something" wrong with the left rear that I should get looked at, but couldn't tell me what :hammerhead:

Would also like to get the shocks etc looked at.

Thanks again.
