2007 BMW X3 2.D good buy?

My girlfriend is looking at a specific 2007 2.0D X3, the car seems to drive pretty well with no warning lights but there's a section on the lower center console which doesn't seem to work, none of the buttons light up or seem to respond.

Also if you start the car in reverse or put it in reverse as you start the car the rear PDC works, after that nothing, nor front or back work.

I think it depends on the price.

I looked around for an X3, and decided an X5 would be a better buy. Similar price for the year, but you get a better engine, and 2010 onward have the zf 8 speed.

I would look for the 8 speed, hands down.

Definitely want the X3 post LCI, so anywhere between 2007-2009 and a manual. I've found some useful information but just wondering if anyone experienced the above problems.
