Hi gurus...thanks for a great site. Need some information desperately. Just bought a 2007 BMW 320i E90. Was told vehicle needs steering wheel pump replaced, steering feels a bit stiffish when turning etc.
Took it to JSN Motors for car reading to check other issues. Found the following:
CC Messages
Kilometer reading discrepency (138,491km currently on)
Outdated Key
Rear Brake pads need to be replaced.
Right and Left brake lamp malfunction.

Does anyone know where I can help with a good mech who can give the car a once over and check what other issues there are with the vehicle and also do the above replacements?
I am in the Bryanston area...many thanks in advance.

That stiff steering sounds familiar, a new pump will set you back around R3k unless you phone bmw then it will be around R8 - 9K, ask me :smashScreen:

What is CC messages? Guy should have given you the error codes and then you would have been sorted with that.

Kilometer reading discrepancy, what are they talking about here and how did they get to that :YesNo:

Outdated key, sure your car starts and drives, how come they mention that. then my key is also out by, let me see, 10 years :roflol:

Rear brake pads, do you hear your car grinding when you stop or is it just they said so, if you hear it phone Bemow in Pta west, they supply for like R800 for the set :sorry:

Those brake lamps just need globes then they waxed. Also can get this at bemow.

The only problem I would worry about is that steering wheel, PM me and I will give you the details of a place that will replace it for like R3K.

If you want someone to do this, which is not that much work except the power steering pump then you cant go wrong with Ross Dunn.

Hey, thanks for the feedback much appreciated, unfortunately the only thing I can work on is computers and NOT cars...so I have asked Ross Duncan to have a look...will let you know what they say...thanks again...

Is ok, good to hear you did managed to take it for a proper check, not key outdated :roflol:

I was the same as you in the beginning, but seeing that this is my 3rd generation bmw (generation to me) I got comfortable working on them until I bought this stupid E90, this car is more computer then car and ended up buying diagnostic software to sort out small issues :roflol:

But I am getting there and starting to get comfortable with this models things, still learn new things every day but hey you will get there.

Hope it isn't to much damage to the wallet but now that once fixed it should last for years, ask me I know

Just got back from Ross Duncan, they didn't have any jacks available to lift the vehicle to check the pump cause they were busy.
So spoke to Mike, booked the car in for the 6th of July earliest spot...so it seems the key readings were off, way off...so they will do a full check, list all issues and let me know before starting any work...happy that its in good hands..
I was interested in getting software to do some stuff on my own and will eventually get there..its interesting stuff. what sort of diagnostics can one do on their own using the software? are you also in coding?

Update, vehicle went in to Ross Duncan and they pretty much changed took care of everything for 7.5k but included the front break pads and rear and other small stuff.
However there is an oil leak and also the valve stem seals need to be replaced...total cost 8.5k!!!
On another note it seems there is nothing wrong with the steering wheel pump its missing some pulley or belt or something like that....and it will be done when the oil leak and valve stem goodies are done....thanks to all.
