Hi Guys,

I just want an opinion. What do you guys feel about the 523I a/t.

Any know problems one should look out for? are they reliable?

Only concern is the auto gearbox. Do they give issues occasionally?

I know it might be under powered due to it being a heavy car but i test drove it and it seems quick good....

Can't b that bad, unless u buying it to race drive it roughly.. It's a a big car, and meant to b driven softly.. I don't think the 23 motor is lazy, it's basically a 25 motor.

Hi Bud
did you end up buying the car i have looked on auto trader and the prices are good for the car you will be getting, my only concern would be the auto box anyone can shed some light on the reliabilty on these boxes ?

I wonder why people are so skeptical about Auto boxes. They are built to last and as you would expect from any mechanical part, if it's used badly, you pay the price. However, if you drive as expected, you will have no problems with them....ever!

My experience:

1991 BMW 325iA - Drove for 2 years never had to deal with auto box
1997 Toyota Corolla (A) - Drove for 3 years till it was stolen and no auto box issues throughout
2003 Peugeot 607 (A) - Drove for 1.5 years without any hassle with auto box

Current BMW 525i and 540i are Auto and between them, 4 years of daily use. No problem whatsoever with auto box.

Furthermore, Performance is excellent in terms of initial acceleration and gear change.

For me (for ever), I will stick to Automatic. It's just stress free and does the job!

Just my 2c

I drove my buddys 323i individual e92 and its damn lazy, very hard suspension, feels like its broken! you have to rev it hard to get the thing going. I also drove the 530i bangler, now thats a peach of a motor in auto!

+1 went in a 2009 X5 3.0i dam you swear that thing was charged the way it delivered the power considering the thing weighs around two tons
