As the title says...

looking to do the clutch.

1)Does one HAVE to replace the flywheel?
2)Is it a dual mass flywheel?
3)can I just have it skimmed?
4)Other than R2000 from Midas for a LUK kit, what other options would you guys suggest?

Thanks in advance...

Hi fluffy, ask this on www.minifanatics.co.za as well, someone there may have first hand experience.

1) I don't think you can reuse a dual mass flywheel.
2) Yes. Guess I answered that already.
3) I have have no idea if you can skim a DMF.
4) I have heard great things of the Valeo single mass flywheel kit, it is cheaper, holds good power and adds no vibration apparently.

mhh.... let me check that out...

star brake and clutch will make a "hybrid" clutch plate with extra grip "buttons" for R1500 extra from the LUK kit.

Extra friction isn't needed with the MINI, stock and valeo clutches holds 200kw without much problems.

I replaced my 2005 MCS clutch late last year.

I wanted the single mass option, but shipping would have made it more expensive.

The shop inspected my flywheel and after +-260k km it was still fine, so they recommended that I only replace the clutch and pressure plate.

I don't recall the exact price, but it was something like R5000.

I replaced mine with the LUK kit from Goldwagen.
