2006 E90 330i Manual what to expect

Apparently the 330i is not very easy to mod and get masses of increases due to the Valvetronic, whereas the 330d is relatively easy to mod. So if you want to go off your nuts and mod the car, then the 330d is the way to go, but this is one of the reasons why I am generally very reluctant to buy a used 330d - I will not risk buying a modded diesel, simple as that! Well any modded car in general, but definitely not a diesel!

The original question as far as I remember was with regards to stock standard and not modified - with that said, I most certainly do have respect for properly modified 330d's and have seen for myself what they can do, so no argument there. And I also think we were talking about pre-LCI cars, the LCI's are in a higher price bracket still...

People are getting way off topic with modded 330d's & 335i's hehe.
330d vs 330i, both pre-lci stock: Not much of a difference but the 330i will take it at the coast. If you think a LCI 330d is truly slow, you are not going to like a 330i. If it was just the driver (more likely) then don't dismiss the 330d. It's an amazing machine (I just hate the sound it makes stock).

Since you are at the coast & you don't want to mod, take the 330i. (I did)
Personally, I'd love a modded 330d but as Phillip said, it's hard to be certain that it hasn't been abused.

There are a few threads comparing cars, stock for stock & there's always at least one guy with a modded xyz claiming it's the best car because of the mods :fencelook:
If the guy wants you to talk about stock cars, talk about stock cars. :tease:

Could always wait for a bolt on supercharger
I'm kidding (before someone goes off topic) :fencelook:

LOL, well it's very close for me - I love my 330i even with the current pinking issue, but the 330d as standard is a great car, especially for daily driving and economy! Different strokes for different folks - have nothing against modifying cars, but like a stock car to be pretty strong as is, and for the money the 330i does it for me and is 'low risk' compared to some of the other engined models, at least that's my feeling...

Just be careful with this one - it's been advertised on gumtree for almost a year on and off now! If all is fine, then yes, a lot of car for the money!!

Yes, I've also seen that ad for a while. Check it out & if it's good, put money aside for sportspack kit & wrap that wood trim
