Hi Gents. I recently found a BMW 320i E90 that I am considering buying and need advice.
The car is a code 2, bank repossesed 2006 model sportpack with 11000kms on the clock, it starts fine, just shows a service light, interior is perfect. However the exterior needs a few touch-ups like the rear bumper needs to be resprayed, the whole car infact as its been sitting in the sun for a while.

Plz advice, should I buy this car? I love Beemers!!

Is the mileage posted correct or are you missing a zero?

Before you make any decisions, take the vin number and call any BMW dealership to request the vehicle history whilst it was in motorplan.

By the way, this thread may have some useful tips for you going forward. Good luck!

If everything checks out and the price is good, I say go for it.

Would it be your first Beemer?

Yes it will be my first beemer, I've driven the 320i E90, both my brothers own them. I must say though that the weight to power ratio is bad, its very sluggish on lower gears(feels heavy) but a good cruiser...

I can always suggest a 320d:idea:

Free! Be polite and they will help. Speak to someone in the service department

Don't buy a 320i unless the price is very good, dirt cheap if possible. Also, sorting out the paintwork could be costly and the vehicle will have no resale value whatsoever.

In my opinion if this vehicle is not almost free i will not take it.

The aftermarket prices for the e90 is really not bad and you don't want to sit with a code 2 vehicle anyway.

Rather invest in a good second hand E90, then later finding out all sorts of Nasties wrong with the Car that will end up causing you to forking out loads of Cash. and eventually end up to roughly the same cost spend on decent E90

My 2c

Sorry for that Confuses struck me with his hammer again

I was Thinki9ng about Code 3

Drive it, shop around a lot, have it checked out by BMW, and if all checks out, and you happy, then go for it. Just make sure it is what you want. Worse thing is to buy a car and a month later realizing you should have bought another one.

+1 ..id rather find a cleaner on just off MP with a good SH and pay a lil extra..a code 2 thats been sitting outside for a long time can give niggles later..remember the shock of an accident can damage other things which may go later..or may not..it's a bit of a gamble
