Hi there, can you guys tell me what kind of fuel consumption figures I can expect to achieve in town driving? I drive Miss Daisy at the moment and the best I can muster is 8,3 km/l. That's like my VR6 used to be! Crazy! The manuals all point to around 11km/l, but I would be happy with 10km/l.
I am busy with a fuel test at the moment and will evaluate the tank to tank readings for about 4 fill ups, but I am not optimistic at all. Are there any common issues with these cars w.r.t fuel consumption? Great car, but terrible economy. The current fuel index is 12.3l/100km. Thanx guys:cry:

These 320i's are known to be heavy on fuel in town driving, especially the automatics! What are the consumption figures like when she's on the open road?

Common misconception that the 4 cylinder 320i auto is light on fuel as the car is too heavy for that engine for reasonable economy, especially with an auto box.

Not 8,3l/100km, I would not complain if I could get even 10 l/100km.. A colleague of mine's car (exact replica) is sitting on 9,9 l/100km.

Planning a trip down the West Coast in 4 weeks, will check then. I have the vehicle for about 3 weeks now, so all driving has only been in town.

Mines tracked over the last 18 000km. when I do my Country trips it drops to about 8.0 per 100. Thats Cruise control at 125km/h.

I d nelspruit and back in 1 day so thats 850km.

I have also done Polokwane and back on 1 tank.

My manual is sitting at 7.9l/100km (30/60 highway/urban) after I did a software update at the dealership as it was always sitting at 10.3l/100km..That can be an option if nothing else helps, but 1st get it on the open road and see what it does, but that's a bit high for my liking..Hope you come right bud..I might be wrong, but someone will definitely assist..Good luck!
