2006 320d E90 station wagon - good buy?

I am considering buying a 2006 320d E90 station wagon. How good is it? Is it as economical as the sedan?

What a fantastic car. I didn't even know the wagon came with the 20d in SA. I thought they were all 325i's and 320i's. I think the 320d's are super rare and the people who own them want to keep them (and I've never seen one in the flesh).

I don't think the station wagon is much heavier than the sedan, but the 05/06 E90s are quite light anyway. The economy on the SW shouldn't be much more than the sedan, which is excellent. Is it automatic? The auto's are quite a lot heavier on fuel. I'd definitely recommend the manual, having owned both.

Drive a 325i wagon too... It will use a lot more fuel, but might well be worth it. I know the 20d's are good and everything, and I know I own one, but this is a BMW you're talking about, and a straight 6 BMW is what it's about.

The 320i has a lot of mechanical issues,my advice ,dnt even consider to buy it, diesel or inline 6 engines,is the way to go:thumbs:

Don't buy a 320i. It's slow and heavy on fuel. I can't comment on the potential issues - operator323 says there are, I'd go with that.

BMW has tighter steering, harder drive, less flashy interior. It's a driving machine with added on functionality. If you want a BMW for the name, don't buy one. If you want one for the safety, don't buy one. If you want the ultimate driving machine (which is generally expensive to maintain), buy a BMW. A Honda Accord tourer 2.4i is bigger, has more standard features, is powerful enough and is more comfy on the road. And they're not expensive. For example.

Dad had one, 2011 320d auto lci, its a brilliant car but the chassis/body lets it down, it creaks and moans when going over bumps/ up inclines slowly and you cam hear it coming from the rear, they didnt re inforce it well enough(i duno what its called, something like what they do to convertible), and the body creaks likes its flimzy.

Its got the power and handling and great cruiser but i wont buy one because of the body creaks

Before you buy go drive it a bit, take it up a drive way slowly and go over speed bumps and judge for urself

Why i love the car is because its rare, and i think its good looking, also it just feels more roomy when the family is in compaired to a sedan

Neither does my prelci or my previous prelci or the two 320d lcis I have driven don't creak.. There is or was something wrong with that car.
