I won't stress too much about the temporary loss of Gizmo. In any online debate or argument, someone good with a keyboard will always triumph over someone good with a spanner.

I've been here since the forum was 2 days old - it's a great community and things normalise over the time. Call me an optimist or a fool, but the greater good to maintain a healthy online community always triumphs. I think we're just in a dark patch at the moment.

No community is going to ignore the passionate work of any individual. Would be too much of a loss for the community. And no individual will compromise on their passions to please the opinions of the entire community.

There are people who don't give 2 f*cks about these build threads, there's people who want to see it continue. There's always conflict and let hope things will work out.

I love getting to work and opening this site to see updates to awesome build threads like this. Not many people are as meticulous as Gizmo when it comes to working on BMW's. Going to be sad if he doesn't return!

Thank you ash. It's a bit of a heart warming story actually, the new owner is my niece's boyfriend. His parents are alcoholics who don't give 2 shits about their children so my family in George have basically adopted him and we now consider him as one of the family. Due to his upbringing he had to grow up very quickly and is very mature for his age, my dad bought a townhouse for my niece and her bf to stay in and now in the new year he is getting his own BMW.

This will be the last update to this thread as the car goes to the new owner tomorrow. Some would have you think that maintenance and upgrades on a car add zero value, well this car just goes to show that there are people out there that value a rare well sorted and taken care of vehicle and are prepared to pay a premium for it, irrespective of the mileage. The car sold for R137k which is 52k above book value.
Here are the pics of the last maintenance items and upgrades the car received from me.



Replaced front and rear diff bushes.




New pads and thermostat installed. Ferodo pads on customer's request.


330i exhaust installed, cats deleted using De Graaf freeflow silencers. Exhaust flap actuated by switch in ash tray.








I upgraded the manual sportpack seats to E46 M3 electric seats.
