2004 E46 Central locking

Hi Guys

Lately I’ve been experiencing a problem with my central locking. When I click on my remote to open the doors, the drive’s side will open but the balance of the doors won’t unlock

Once I’m in the car and I press the central locking ( Center console ) button for the doors to unlock nothing happens, I need to literally open the door from inside for the passenger to get in

This doesn’t happen all the time, but it’s something I’m concerned about

Any ideas?

Click once opens drivers door. Click twice opens all doors.
But m sure you know this. This could even be 2 (two) different problems.

(1) Replace the battery in your remote key.
(2) Check the wiring in your centre consoles by removing the hazard lights and unlock module. Switch with a friends one that you know works and see if it works or is still failing.

Thanks

I am aware of the 2 clicks for all the doors to open

I think it's a general safety feature, first click, as Chris mentioned, is to unlock the driver's door only, second click to unlock the rest. And then of course, if you press and hold the lock or unlock buttons, it will close or open all the windows and sunroof too.

Oh, and if the alarm has motion detection, you can disable that by setting the alarm with the normal single press of the button, then within the 30 seconds of being armed, press the arm button again. You will then see the blinking red LED go steady for a few seconds, it is then alarmed by won't be triggered if the car is moved, bumped, or jacked up, or typically, if a loud Harley Davidson motorbike rides past it. This happened a number of times with my E90, bike goes past, alarm goes off, diesel bakkie parks behind it, alarm goes off.

Thanks for the input. I m aware of the 1st and 2nd click and how it works.
What's strange is, the 2nd click use to work and now recently it doesn't

I had my gm5 fixed by Combined Electronics a few years back here in CPT. I think they have a branch in JHB as well.
