2004 E46 320d problem

hi guys,

A colleague of mine has a problem with his E46 320d it doesn't want to start. It takes forever to start and the speedo does some funny things. I have a video to show you what I mean.


what could it be?

diesel wont start if the starter cannot swing it fast enough.. so yeah prolly battery issues, second place maybe starter..

Battery is fine.

Mechi says it's the High pressure pump isn't pumping diesel, and low pressure pump is ok.

another Ou says it's the computer box and wants R5k to do it.

suggestions?

No he said the problem is just before the engine....so it needs delicate hands lol!

Now he's taking it to some other guy.
He claims it's the computer box and is going to do it for R3k.

someone needs to read codes and go from there, btw i remember that with the e46 if the wheel speed sensor on the rear which also supplys signal to the cluster for speed is konked it does some weird things with the gauges on the dash. why? i dont know... but it might go some way to understanding why the cluster is doing that. as for the starting issue? maybe the dme is cutting the car off as the gauge is in the Red? anyways good luck...
