Hi, My 2003 E46 330D F/L was showing signs of missing and power loss occasionally and went for a diagnostics; the workshop advised me to change turbo and six injectors at a combined cost of R34000 (R11500 for the turbo and R22500 for the injectors). Is the price reasonable?

What workshop is it? Are they using a genuine brand new Garrett turbo? Because I would not risk a rebuilt on a VNT turbo. If so, the price is reasonable, but I doubt that it is the problem, you should rather try someone else.

You say it is only occasionally? It could be MAF as well. In fact it could be a lot of things, but it seems like these guys just want to blindly start replacing things, starting with the most expensive parts first...

Depending on how bad the injectors are, you can try having them cleaned before you end up replacing them. Highly unlikely all 6 will need replacing. AFAIK, the BMW diagnostics can tell you how bad each injector actually is.

thats an extreme amount of money to be spent on the car without being 100% certain of what the problem is.

my advice is to take it to a professional.

if you are in jhb - go to Tunetech. Theyre just about the best at working with BMW's. they would advise you properly.
