Hey guys,
a lot of people pm me about the difference between a normal 2002 and a 2002ti.
So I thought I would post it up here so people can find it with the search if they need it.
BTW. You guys are more than welcome to pm me for any info on 2002's.
There are a few ways of telling a 2002ti from the rest of the pack.
Visually there were few clues. here are a few off the top of my head.
LHD only.
The car had "2002ti" on the left front grill as well as the right of the rear panel.
It had 5" steel wheels intead of the 4.5" of the standard 2002.
It had a bmw sport steering wheel(asually 38cm and fewer 35 cm)
It had a rev counter(stock car had a clock there) and a small clock fitted to the right of the instrument cluster.
The brake booster was smaller in diameter(and longer) to allow the airbox for the sidedrafts to fit.
And it had 2 solex phh 40mm side drafts(hard to find parts for this carb but I can still get you some if you need).
Mecahnical advance distributor.( no vacuum advance)
Things you can't see easily:
It had stronger struts, wheelbearings and bigger spindles.
Bigger calipers and bigger disks up front.
Bigger rear drums, bigger wheel cylinder and stronger(boxed) trailing arms at the back.
It had a bigger diameter master cylinder.
Bigger diameter exhast manifold.
Higher compression pistons(9.3 to 1)
121ti cylinder head(you can see the cast number on the inlet side at the no. 4 cylinder intake).
Optional things on the ti:
300' or 324' racing cams from bmw
close ratio steering box with 2.8 turns lock to lock instead of 3.5(very scarce and expesive option)
Close ratio 5-speed dogleg(with 1st gear left and down) gearbox.
Limited slip diff with any final ratio you wanted and available in 40% and 75% lock-up.
A variety of bucket seats, usually recaro or scheel.
Leather trim.
Petri sports steeing wheels.
Wider steel or alloy wheels(from 5" to 6.5")
