WOW, that is a VERY nice car!! Congrats!! It looks like a pre-71 model, with original mudflaps! NICE! Ive always liked 2002's in Charmonix, and the blue interior compliments it well. And the best thing about 2002's, is you have to DRIVE them! Its not a garrage queen, so enjoy it!

If you need more info on 2002's, try out www.bmw2002faq.com and www.02forum.co.uk
Both has LOTS of info if you ever get stuck.

I think we should organize a classic bmw day some time!

Uhm, just for interest sake, so that people do not get confused,
There were 4 different types of 2002's (there were 1602's and 1802's aswell with 1.6 and 1.8 engines respectively)

2002 - about todays 330i, 400,000+ made
2002ti - the m3 of back in the day 16,000+ made
2002tii - same as ti but with fuel injection and 10bhp extra(due to higher comp pistons) 36,000+ made

and finaly, the 2002 turbo - About the M3 GTR today.(only 1600 made, 0-100 in 6.9, for '74 thats not bad)

@bac, sorry to say this, but your car is not a "ti", but still a very HOT 02 in very good condition.

You can get a lot of my ti pics here: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,0/page,viewtopic/t,354077/

And my other 02: www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=12300

Hmm like the idea of a BMW classic day.......we could have from old to new, try and have 1 model of each.....

here are some pics of another old one a 1800SA

http://e12.assertion.de/palette/za/vin/other/02a74001/02a7xl99.htm

I dont think that 1800SA would be ready in time!:dunno:

Seems like classicman is getting a classic bmw club up and running, so pm him if you would like to be part of it. The more people are interested, the faster it sould take.(just a guess though)

Here is a pic of my old Leftie.
Leftie.jpg

It was a 1971 2002ti left hand drive.

My dad bought it in 1990, and in 1992, when I wanted a bike, he said I must take the 2002. I was 16, and had no real thing for cars at that time.

Then my uncle borrowed the car from my dad when they went through a financial dip. The car was used and abused on a daily basis, and when we got it back it needed a LOT of work. It had rust, the interior needed work, the doorlock was busted, and the front suspension was goners.

Back then we had no idea of the value of these cars, and I sold it for R 4 000.00.

Yes, you may shoot me. I feel like shooting myself.

How I wish I could get her back.............

Wow, thats quite sad to hear! But buy bac's 02 and you are back in the classic game

Just a question Jandre, was those bumpers changed on the car? Im asking because Ti's only came out with short bumpers, and no knee high trim, like this one:
