2001 VR6 Sharan.

This is my 2001 VR6 Sharan.

this is the 2.8l VR6 i had the option of the 1.8 turbo but was not keen , and i was not interested in anything diesel either.
when it was new it had 201hp (150kw) and 265Nm , after 10 years it still pulls like a tank and is really not shy. driving like a hooligan after the exhaust sound you will end up having a consumption of 25-30l per 100km , drive respectfully and you will see 9.2l per 100km, which is not to bad for a near 2 ton vehicle. i must say i miss my E46, both cars have the good points and bad points , obviously the Sharan has major space and awesome motor , both have full leather interior , but the heated seats and mirrors , heated front and rear windows is something that is really awesome , in a nut shell its a great car and i love it, but a E46 is in a class of its own , and i will really get another one again.

when i bought the car i saw the V6 badges which confused me big time , after some research i discovered that the VR6 branding was dropped and just branded as V6 , ill have to source some badges and get them on the car ASAP.

i would start by trying to find out what components were used in the 4wd version hopefully that will lead to some discussions about what is needed :grin: hopefully the rear subframe is the same on both then it wont be too costly...

the thing i like about the older Sharan's are the front seats could rotate 180°

i can understand the whole big family car thing. makes good sense. also makes a good work vehicle for your mrs.

cool man thats an awesome engine you have there. i still own a 1998 golf VR6, getting into the revvs it has the most unique and amazing exhaust and engine note. my golf has branches and full Zorst, sounds top! also i reckon the one you got is better than the 4wd version. i'm sure the fuel consumption will get worse and the acceleration will be slower with a 4wd setup. unless you wanna go off road...
if you are looking for any spares Goldwagen is definitely the way to go. most of the time they are half the price of VW and they stock original Bosch products. they also keep pirate parts if you looking to cut even more costs.

Looking good DonoVAN (sorry, I couldn't resist). As Reese130 said those VR6/Virus motors sure do sound gooooood. The hairs on my arms stand on end when I hear a VR6. A relative of mine has a mk5 R32,and as beautiful as it sounds, it still doesnt beat the old 12V! Incidently he also owned a MK3 VR6 back in the day.

Goldwagen is definitely the way to go. most of the time they are half the price of VW and they stock original Bosch products. they also keep pirate parts if you looking to cut even more costs.

ja they are good on pricing , they also keep quite a lot of BMW parts , especially for the e46 range.
