2000 E46 318i - Funny noise

The cars making a funny noise from the yellow arrow area..

What is in there?

Its like a rattle / grinding noise..

Mechanic said its a valve of some sort, that a flap comes loose. Booked it in for wed next week

Car swallowed a clown... hence the funny noise... :banghead:

Took it in. Mechanic said its the disa value. Said if it breaks apart it drops pieces into the intake and can bend values. So am glad its getting fixed

Could be the belt tensioner. Zap it with Q20 and it will go away, but not for long. If it does that, you know it is time for a new one. You can get them from the aftermarket for a bit less than the stealerships. Here is an example:

Edit: oops, the link goes to a shop that specializes in Land Rovers, but they did come out with BMW engines for a while...
