So myself and Jeff decided to finally take the 328i project out on the track to see what she's like. Arrived early "eager bimers" I was told
Myself and Jeff sharing the duties in the 328i, and good friend Allen in his E30 325is with E36 M3 conversion race car.

Great day out, Session 1: I went out first with Jeff as shotgun. Just took it easy and took 2-3 laps to scrub the older tires to get some "newish" rubber. Along with making sure nothing falls off or breaks. Lap 4 I decided "Right Let's do this..." and cracked the whip. 2 laps later I was wishing the LSD would magically appear! And managed a 1:46 & 1:47.5 in Group 1 - for us noobs so no overtaking in the corners and no out breaking.
Allen went out and eventually getting back on the track after almost 2 years; bangs out a solid 1:25.6 on his 2nd lap with me as Shotgun. Well gents all I can say is "Gaddam! that thing is fast." I tried to record a clip with the BB but it became impossible to try and record anything.
Our 2nd session Jeff took the group 1 slot and me shotgun. I wanted to take the Group 2 slot with out-breaking allowed
Jeff did a 1:47.31 HI 5 buddeh!
There was a S2000 and a Lotus 7 around him for a while till pulling away and a golf about 300m ahead of us. I said to Jeff "You BETTER catch that Golf!" 2 laps later we passed the 1.8"R" along the back straight! Massive Hi 5 Budd!
I had a good battle between an E30 with a very cool race kit on it and the same S2000 Different driver from Group 1 though. Too busy focusing on them I didnt notice the turbo silver toyota corolla sedan appear behind me. Coming out of turn 5 on to the straight, I put my foot down and there's that sickening feeling when you notice the fuel light is on and the sudden loss of power. With a sickening "Buhh buhhh BaaaaaaaAAAAA" the toyota flew passed me.
Next session Jeff had similar times of 1:46's with some traffic. 10 points for trying pal!
When he came in he said the brakes were almost metal to metal and "The left wheel felt funny" :argh:
I still took her out by myself to assess the situation. There was still enough for a few burners. :joy:
1:41.97
1:39.50
1:40.72
I had a great time with a silver E46 M3 that was drifting most corners, so I was able to keep up and a Camaro ss (me thinks) Smokey license plate.
A lap later something in front of us dumped oil all the way through turn 5 ON the race line. No yellow flags yet. The M3, the SS and myself all end up VERY sideways. 3 for 3 we all held a slide. Mine, a tad less graceful than the M3 flippen Scary but entertaining. :=): Subsequently the session was red flagged.
We are VERY happy with the results for the day. The 328i is a great bit of fun and has plenty of ponies to keep you entertained. The bug has officially bitten me! Track days ftw and it's time to put some cash in to the Green Mamba! LSD, Exhaust and new tires coming soon!
Im sure Jeff will put up some more pics or correct me if I have omitted anything.
