The problem with Homage cars that we see playing out here is that BMW seems to think any crap with an Homage (read: limited) badge and a mad price will sell extremely well.
The problem is, they are right.
It will.
And worse, they will trade hands to other idiots who believe theyre buying pedigree somehow.
Ultimately, I have realised I dont care, let them homage the shit out of homage. Let them sell absolute shitboxes.
Because when you do repeatedly dumb things to a brand, you drive away clients who have more than a passing association with a brand. You drive away the die-hards, and the people you pander to, theyre going to drop you like shit, when the next Homage shitbox from a shitbox brand comes along.
But again, BMW is turning into that shitbox brand organically and of their own making.
Theyre trying to be a proper race brand, but then also produce cars that are basically Lego with lights and nonsense everywhere for no good reason.
BMW as a brand is now fully schizophrenic.
