Any kind of FI just feels like cheating to me, kind of like you don't have to work to get more power out of the engine. With a NA engine you need to know your stuff to get more power out of the engine. I have seen a 1.8l MX5 that has been turbo'ed that pushes more than 800Hp. So now the new M3 comes out in 2013 (or whenever) with a 3.2l twin turbo 500Hp engine, that would be pretty good, but doesn't it have more power like 700Hp. Further with turbos you will no longer have the satisfaction (maybe unjustified) of saying: Yeah but my car is NA.
I like BMW without turbos, I am a big fan of NA (one of the reasons I love BMW), but this is of course just my opinion and personal preferences

Bru when you drive a M5 as a daily and your average consumption is 18L/100km no matter how much dosh you have it starts pissing you off. The new M5 will have a consumption of around 10L with 21st century performance. You will also not have to wait till 6000rpm for the car to get moving. I am saying this from a person that has always had a M car in the garage.
On a engineering stand point the V10 was a work of art. It really did have F1 technology and will most probably be the last of the wow motors of the whole combustion era as we know it.
As for the new M3 do not be surprised if BMW releases it with a V6.

I understand it in terms of consumption I guess, still if you buy a high performance 5l V10 you shouldn't be expecting good fuel consumption. Its the same with my 330i when people ask me about the consumption (11-12l/100km town driving), then asking if I'm not bothered by this high consumption, the answer simply is no, I know that I was buying a car with a 3.0l engine, so the consumption doesn't bother me.
Please don't even talk to me about that little V6 "matter", the thought of a BMW M car powered by a rackety V6 sickens me to be brutally honest.
One good thing is that new BMW are becoming so expensive I will probably never be able to afford one in anyhow, all I actually need is a silver e46 M3 and my perfect 2 car garage will be complete
Edit: Of course I wouldn't say no a e30 M3, but that is kinda like the holy grail, so no sane person would say no to that![]()

Guess then BMW should just become the best with turbo'ed engines, like they are with NA engines![]()
