Hey Guys,

I know I promised this the day I joined, unfortunately work has consumed much of my time. Decided its high time she came out of hibernation. This car belonged to my dad and was left to me when he passed away. Last started about a year and half ago and about 2 years prior to that. My dad became somewhat of a hoarder, it took 4 full weekends to remove all the stuff that was packed on the sides, behind, underneath and on top of the car. Thankfully he kept the car cover on even though it was in the garage. She needs a good clean which I hope to get done this weekend and will need some tlc to get her back to the way i remember her. Here are some pics I took just after she came out the garage and saw sunlight for the first time in +/- 5 years.

Thanks guys, plan is to keep her as original as possible. Might go up a size on the rims depending on the cost of tires as it has 225/60 R15. Other than going to a bigger oem rim, just want to undo some of the weird things my dad did and take her back to factory condition.

The sentimental value this car will hold is priceless. Its a lovely car, my brother had an E32 735i back in the day and that car was pretty damn special, right down to the kind of wood trim used (Bubinga).

All the best with the restoration and I agree with keeping it OEM. My 2c would be to keep the car period correct and use an OEM wheel from that time period.

Will be keen to hear/see what these 'things' are - You've piqued my interest :tiptoe:

Dad bought the car in 1996 with around 60 000km on the clock and we have had it ever since, unfortunately at some point the odometer stopped at 299 960km and has never counted further so we aren't really sure whats the actual mileage. Ill take some pics of the interior to and post them, one such example is at some point it seems that the petrol pump stopped working and he figured out that there was no power from the ignition to the pump, so he ran a separate cable with a switch to the pump to put it on manually before starting. seems that he did the same thing with the A/C lol, which this car never came with but he had one fitted when we still lived in durban.

So far what I've listed to be done is the following:

1) FR fender slight damage
2) FR door slight dmage
3) shocks
4) one of the brake calipers seems to be seized
5) all fluid change, engine oil, trans fluid, diff oil, coolant
6) fix sunroof electronics
7) put interior panels back, alarm malfunctioned and was removed
8) respray
9) new tires, need to get pricing on 225/60 R15
10) attempt headlight restoration, alternatively replace with OEM
11) new battery
12) replace left plastic side skirt
13) new bonnet rubber, the one that just above the headlights
14) new bonnet shocks
15) fix the oem boot tool box clip
16) new FR door beading, hope i can find this

So far this is what i have discovered. but need to take it one step at a time, will eventually get her to her former glory and hope to make my dad proud.
