I have been busy with this build since early this year.

The car is resident in Kuruman and what excited me most about this build was that the owner used to drive a similar car in colour combination when he was a young man of barely 16 (the circumstances were most colourfull and should he register here he might be convinced to tell you about it.)

So he bought a car with a normal M30 engine as the original motor had broken and somewhere along the line the previous owner decided to expedite things and stuck an M30 in it with some real funny mods.

Block was sent in for a slight hone and we used the same pistons with new rings bearings etc.

All the S series I6 engines have a very similar crank to this in shape and design.
Here is the grand daddy of all M inline6 engines.

Some will have noticed that the block is stamped with an L.
That bore and stroke was first established as a mule engine in the 535 series of cars as the factory wanted to gauge durability on the engines prior to them being put into production for the M saloons.
