Hi Bud , i raced a cayman s 2009 , ran side by side robot to robot until 3rd , but i drive a M135i

And that's on high altitude? Not sea level?

that's right , up in jhb , up until 5000 rpm in 3rd had to stop for the next robot

Interesting, I wonder how much power a NA car loses up here nowadays with the better engine refinements... still around 15 to 20%?

I speak under correction:

Yes, N/A still lose 15%-20%. It's got to do with atmospheric pressure, which hasn't changed.

And for the record, I would buy a 135i hands down over a Cayman S... Just personal taste.

Hi Bud , also remember the the cayman s is also +/- 100 kg to 200 kg lighter
than my car , and also the power to weight ratio .( cayman is 171 per tone )
( bmw M135i is 152 per tone ) turbo engine's also lose +/- 3 to 6 % on the reef . stand to be corrected

A mate has the new boxster s with about 5000km ... and raced another mate's 2012 135i manual. And the outcome? Bmw was Def quicker

In terms of power loss for turbo I thought it was around 8 to 10% up here on the reef?

I think it varies more for turbos (I stand to be corrected). Rule of thumb is 3%, but it could be 10% for a certain car. I know that my 05 320d gained quite a lot at the coast. 80-120 dropped from about 7.3s at the reef to about 5.5s at the coast.

That is a huge difference...

I drove my STI in Jhb and Dbn, at least 8 to 10% difference, boost even went higher on its own at coast,& much stronger pull off

Haven't taken 135 to coast - but I'm sure the difference is going to be notable...
