135i DCT N55 - Pulling Off traction ??

Hi

N55 135i DCT beast with real pull off traction probs...

When I am standstill I put it in Sport mode shift left as well as Sport button and then floor it - and guess what - car goes sideways instead of fwd before traction control kicks in.

Now even though this is a lot of fun it seems to me to be the lag effect of the turbo in 1st before the massive power surge hits... is this due to its a DCT auto or just too much power to put down on the wheels...??

What are all you fellow 135i owners thoughts on this - & what is the best way to overcome this for a PROPER pulloff?

Cheers

Does this "sideways" happen on all road surfaces?

My car is tuned. I am able to limit the Tq in first gear to 9psi & second gear to 13psi. But it use to "sway" on hard pull off as well as wheel spin alot. But now the launch is much better controlled...

practice :) launching with a turbo can be tricky...

Yea I know... I've had 3 Turbo's before this one, 2 manuals (T4 and STI) then 1 Auto (C70) ... but never had this issue ...

What do you suggest doing , bigger tyres on the back?? I need traction to beat them all on the road... :argh:

I think your pulling off addiction has caught up with you...

Can't say I blame you though! :biglol:

Nothing better than a proper pulloff - its the lag causing this problem - throttle goes down, power comes split second too late and too much..

TTRS pulled up next to me last night... we both floor it on green, he goes like a bullet str8, I go sideways :bangdesk: :thumbdo:

have you tried the launch control ?

procedure below

Press DTC button, hold brake, hold accelerator. Wait for checkered flag to appear on dash.

Release brake

none of these are Rwd :) 1st practice and try find the right launch rpm if you cant get it then look at changing something to fix it...

Yep - prob is its a DCT auto - can't rev & pull off like a manual

I had the same problem but when I changed to 19" pirrelli run flats the problem almost totally dissapeared......even tuned now the slip is minimal.....I ussually use one push on the DTC to let the wheels slip a lil and not cut out power, and on the tirese my continentals from BMW that came stock lasted me 18000 before the grip started fading fast and my pirrellis are 15000 in and still looking new

Yip, right wheels / tyres will sort out this issue

BUT truth be told, I'm loving the slipping around , it's real fun now that I'm used to it :roflol:

I know what u mean, but when I handed over that wad of cash for new tires I wanted to cry and the wheelspin and drifting around became a lot less enjoyable:flyfun:
