So it all started when i put foot on the highway and the engine check light came on. Stopped the car restarted and light went away. Decided to take the car in anyway the next week just to get it checked out. After flashing to the new software the car was test driven and the turbo popped :yuck: . So now I am told that the part will take 14 working days to come from Germany and that they cannot give me a loan car or a rental, so now I am stuck with out a car. I have complained to BMW SA same story no loaner no rental. Should I take this further?

the bmw techs really don't play when they test drive customers cars...

they drive it like they stole it! in short... throw your arms up over the loaner issue but while your car is in their hands and they footing the bill then just kick back and smile...

This is actually very scary.
If the engine light came on, its probably the fuel pump. What could of happened, the car was boosting high with not enough of fuel been received.
That could be one scenario. Doing software flash wouldnt of helped as the damage was already done.

Another scenario could be your car was not cooling correctly, heating up without any warnings, this could blow the turbo as well.

BTW is the car modified in any way? Could possibly be a tune messed the car/turbo up.

Will follow this thread as i have the same car as you.

Hope it works outs

Sounds like the problem im having... they doing tests on injectors and fuelpump...but yeah I also did the software flash...that didnt help... bmw techs jus dont think... isnt it common sense that if the car wasnt throwing the engine light the 1st 50k km why wud the software do it nw ... wonder how many cars get fixed after the re flash of the software ...

Also know of a 335 that was taken in for service and when the owner collected, the tyres was badly worn and the car had a shutter.
