According to what I know (which is very little) the purpose of copper paste is to reduce rattle and not brake squeal :dunno:

There's a little plate behind the pad to reduce squeal, maybe they forgot to put the plate back?

Mine have also been squeeking. It goes away for a while after a car wash. Also when my car handbrake been up for a while and i release and reverse ( Manual ) There is quite a loud noise untill i put her in 1st it goes away. They did recalibrate my handbrake not long ago though.

The handbrake doesn't make use of the pads though. This utilises small shoes that sit inside the rear discs.
