Hi Guys

Was hoping to get some insight from you and find out if any one else has experienced a similar issue with their vehicle.

I have a 135i and recently had the clutch and flywheel replaced under warranty. After fitment I was getting vibration feedback through the pedal when compressed. Something I have never experienced from any of my Bimmers and also that wasn't there with the old clutch and flywheel. The problem was intermittent and after a couple of visits to the dealer, I managed to get BMW to look at it and replace the new clutch with another.

Initially this seemed to resolve the issue but it has since returned, could it be that the Flywheel is in fact the cause or is there anything else that may be an issue. The technicians said they inspected everything and nothing seemed out of place or problematic.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Oh I forgot to mention its a 2008 135i (n54)

Damn.
Si, I thought the dealer sorted the problem?

All I know that clutch & flywheel problems on the 135s are notorious. Some go as early as 30 - 40 000Ks. Many are complete stock cars with clutches that go without warning.

My issue though is: Fixing the clutch and flywheel is a mechanical repair and that the car should drive perfectly after being fixed/replaced...why does it reoccur so soon after being fixed? I dont know this answer. Fixing clutch & flywheel out of waranty is very costly. What about a second opinion from a different dealership or a visit to ART...just for an alternative opinion?

Thanks Twins, I might have to.

Gonna give Zeemax a buzz and see what he thinks it could be. It's only been there since it went into the dealership, never felt it before even with old clutch and flywheel needing replacement! So frustrating and being a perfectionist, drives me up the wall.

Can you refresh me on ART? Not sure what that is.

P.s any clutch stops arrive? ;)

ART and Zeemax are both sponsors on the forum. Click on sponsors above for the contacts. The specific clutch stop for the 135 has not landed yet. I guess they ran out of supplies in the US. Sorry for the delay.

What issues were you having that the flywheel and clutch got replaced?

I'm thinking they incorrectly installed your throwout bearing on the first go, and got it right the second time but it now needs to be replaced. If that isn't the case, you might have some buildup between the flywheel and the clutch if you didn't go easy on it, and they just need to clean it out.

Thanks for you response. I suspect it's due to poor fitment or an affected part that wasn't replaced when the new clutch was fitted.

Originally I asked them to check the clutch while the car was in for a service and I was told both clutch and flywheel needed relacement. I thought it was probably due as I was coming up to the 60 000km mark, which is why I asked.

Been a bit of a mission to get to this point as each time they've worked on my car it's taken days and I've had to run the car in even when the issue was noticeable immediately :(

Headache!

Well, there's not a whole lot of stuff that can be replaced/looked at if you can feel vibration in the pedal. Flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. Your flywheel got replaced, so did your disk and pressure plate (twice, and they come as a kit), so either your throwout bearing is now the weak link or they've manged to muck something up and you've got clutch buildup on the flywheel which is causing a vibration, or poor fitment.
