120d vs 125

Hi all. I'm new to the forum but you all seem to be the most knowledgeable when it comes to BMWs. I'm currently looking at the coupe shape 120d or 125. Is there anything I should look out for in these cars? Thinking of going diesel for consumption. TIA

Get the 120d rather out of those 2, If you want power skip the 125i and go 135i.

If you want a good balance between economy and power, get the 120d.

If is power you want skip the 125i and go for the 135i. If you take the 125i instead, you will always wish you got a 135i.

+1 I was initially looking for a 125 but then I test drove a 135 and my mind was made up lol

+1 there is not much difference in fuel consumption between the two.

well at the coast you could have decent power from a 125i with intake swop & its more reliable. 135i is amazing but must be honest even though i have the budget for it & love performance I'm scared of a 35i

Thanks guys. I'm more inclined in going the 120d route especially considering the consumption you get. Are the any common problems that I should look out for on test drives/inspections.

A good service history.

125i is a very lovely car. Esp the engine sound track... I chose it because it has a good reliability record.. And i am not tempted to modify it in any way because the gains is minimal. I get 11-12 km on a liter... So its not bad for a 3000cc... With the 135 u will have more expensive services and maintenance cost for parts can be very expensive.

I did some reading up and it appears that there is no need to change the intake to get to 195kW. Only difference between 125i and 130i is software.

I think the 125i is a great package. Less maintainence, enough power and great engine sound. Get one in manual!
