120d E87 vs F20

Hello Lovely Beemer peeps.

Thoughts on pros and cons between the two cars? I'm seeing both models going for similar prices on auto trader. The 8-speed auto in the F20 is alluring but I'm wondering if which one would be the better car overall.

Thanks

The f20 will be better. If im not mistaken it has a twin scroll turbo so Spool up is better. 8 speed box is also better.

Sorry guys, I have made a mistake. I was referring to the E87 coupe, the one that was replaced by the two series in 2014. Hence me saying some of them have been going for similar prices as the F20. I think k the coupe is a sexy car, but obviously there is more than that to a car.

That's called the E82 and it's pretty much identical to the E87, but better spec'd in most cases.

The F20 will still be a far better car overall. The 8-speed auto box, more space inside the car, better interior etc. all make it a decent upgrade from the E87/E82.

I have an E82 120d.
The F20 is a better overall car but I took the E82 because it has more sex appeal to me. I'm not a fan of the hatch backs

I replaced a F20 with a E82. Best decision ever.

How so?
F20 was my first BMW. I never understand what all the guys were talking about how the older beemers drive better than the newer models. That is until I drove a E82. It's hard to explain specifically. It's an emotional thing. Or the way the car feels around you.

Guess best is to test drive both and see how you feel about it.

For me my E82 will most likely be my last BMW. I test drove a new 3 series last year and the 'feel' of it was exactly like a 2000 Toyota camry. I know this is not going to be a popular opinion but for me the new beemers no longer provide 'sheer driving pleasure' with the exception of M cars presumably though as I have not driven one so can't comment on them.
