Hozit guys,

So ive noticed that (Mostly when cold) the 1er has a blow off type sound which ive heard other cars like Polo TDI's have. Sounds like a choooo

While servicing the bm over december, i removed the bottom engine cover to check everything and saw that the boost pipe going from the turbo to the intercooler just below the airbox has some oil residue on it and it seems like the pipe isnt properly connected/doesnt sit 100% flush?

So im not sure if perhaps its leaking there or what could be causing the noise.

Only hear it when the car is cold and sounds like a blow off valve.

In this video, i get a similar sound to this but only like once on a bit of load and then it seems to gradually disappear

My car seems to have the middle box on the exhaust removed and also seems to have a very small back box? Could this be it? seeing that the polo TDI's have this sound after getting a mufflerectomy as they call it?

Car drives 100%, not heavy on diesel and feels strong, car does not smoke at all so any ideas?

Your boost pipes is suppose to be clean. So just phone BMW and buy new boost housing seals. I paid 805 dec.
Do all 4 same time.
Clean the pipes when you fit them back, this way you can see if they still leaking.

Hi Renier ,I have come across this numerous of times specially with the VAG Diesels but what I have been told from my turbo repair guy its air passing trough the shaft of the turbo and reduced airflow to the compressor wheel . Doing a straight pipe /Mufflerectomy would enhance the sound.

R805 for seals? :skit: is that for a set?

How does one access the bottom boost pipe, there is too much other pipes in the way and from the front the radiator will be in the way.

Perhaps ill check the seal and clean the pipe first and if then it still leaks a bit of oil vapour then ill replace all seals.

Is it normal orings or some of those fancy ones with the gap in the middle?

Its for all 4. But you have to tell them you want all 4. The by the turbo and by die tb is the expensive ones. The two on the cooler is the cheaper ones.
Its the orings with the gap in the middle.

I did everything from the top. Just removed some covers and it was real easy.

Ok shot thanks bud! Will see what access i have if i remove the snorkel airbox pipe and top covers because from the bottom it seems to be impossible.

do you have a picture of the one that goes on the TB/EGR side? When i did my swirl flaps, i cant remember seeing any big seal there and also didnt check inside the pipe if there was a seal.
