Good day fanatics
I own a 2011 BMW 120D Coupe' LCI Steptronic as my daily. The car is on 180 000km and in excellent condition. I do oil services every 9000km and drive long distances on the regular. So far, the car has been nothing but outstanding, averaging 5,3/100km on long journeys. The power is astonishing for a 2.0 turbodiesel and I find the car quicker than E90 325i's.
For me, reliability is a key factor and the 20d has been nothing short of that. I intent to keep the car for another 6 years or so.
My question is:
When the car reaches more or less 200 000km, I want to do a few performance upgrades such as downpipe, dpf removal, drop in air-filter and software. Will these mods compromise reliability and put more strain on for e.g. the turbo and gearbox; are they safe upgrades or should I only do software (STAGE 1) ? Also, does software need updates every odd thousand kilometers?
TIA
Regards
