Hi Guys!! I'm also new and pretty much in the same boat as you!!! Would actually want a 135i, but it's too unpractical for us.

I've also been looking around at F20's. Got in touch with a bmw dealer this week so will be giving updates as soon as I hear something back. Where did you see the specials, oneone8?? Because since my first enquiry about 2 weeks ago till this week, the leather seats for one has gone up by about R3000!!!

I was at a dealer on Tuesday and I don't know about any specials..

Sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread I just think it's pointless to start another one with the same info.

This is the one I was looking at, think it's a lease type thing, not sure tbh - haven't had a chance to get to a dealer:

I can't for the life of me find the 320d deal now, but think it expires 31 March.

oh!! that one, ya I spoke to a dealer about that. Yeah your basically renting the car for 54 months and then give it back and then you paid R4k per month for something you don't have anymore after 54 months... If you're a rep or something I think it's worth it, but otherwise.... it's a waste.

There was a 320d at the one dealer two weeks ago - 2012 with 18" mags, sportspack, few more extras for R398 000 and only 500km on the clock. That was a R50 000 discount on basically a brand new car - but that price is out of my reach so, yeah.

Thanks Figjam, yeah I spoke to a sales-rep on Friday and she confirmed they are almost giving the 320d away for free, apparently some really big specials/deals going on before the new stock comes in.

Hi Gents,

Well after some further deliberation I've decided to take your advice and rather look for a second-hand D. At this point I have my heart set on a 330d which checks all the boxes, so hopefully in the near future I'll be able to share it with you lot.

Cheers

Well the question you have to ask, do you want a full family car or a family car when they in it?

Im a guy, i wanna eat some S3's when im alone, but im a dad aswell so a Velocity would kill me  when i got the wife and baby with.

its up to you man, you want play time with safety and comfort with some power or just a family car?

+1:thumbs:

Playtime + Relative economy + family car, which is why I think the 330d ticks the boxes. The 320d is not off the map completely, but think the extra kick from the 330 will keep me smiling?

Thanks Twinz, I'm about 99.9% sure I'd like to hold out for a 330d - have read very good things about it. Will probably go for an AT because I'll be doing a fair bit of traffic driving with it. I haven't been able to find anything conclusive in terms of consumption difference between AT/M? Understandably the AT will be a bit heavier, do you know by how much?

Remember you dealing with a diesel...the consumption gain from a AT diesel will be negligable. But sport mode and a tune will put you back in the frugality game
