I recently got an 08 M5 off of a copart auction for 7,500 and had it shipped from L.A. to Santa cruz california.when the vehicle arrived it had zero fuel oil or coolant in it whatsoever which was a bad sign out of the gate. When purchased the title stated salvahe title due to small dents and scratches......well turns out that after i cleaned and amd refilled all the fluids that it needs new rod bearings and may have a head gasket issue cuz there seemed to be oil in the coolant or vise versa but it starts up its just knocking for sure any input or recommendations ??

Not familiar with US repair costs but even here in South Africa that is effectively "mechanically totalled". You also have no idea if the gearbox is any good either. Short of finding a replacement motor for a good deal (or trying a swap of some kind), you might want to consider parting it out to recover some of the cost. Considering it has cosmetic work needed as well its probably going to end up becoming a labour of love if you go on trying to get it right IMHO

ja ne, if you check the videos from M539Restorations you can have an idea of what you in for restoring an M5 and mind you he does it with all OEM parts!!
