Just do Stage 3 xHP tune on the box.

But they are right, maybe do the tune first and get used to the car then do the gearbox flash. You will then appreciate and notice the difference that the gearbox flash actually makes.
That was also my thoughts around it, do 1 thing at a time to appreciate and justify the bank balance is getting lower. :D

Thanks for this, he did say that majority don't do the gearbox software unless they feel they need it, then they come back.

He said with the tune, he will also look at the parameters for the box to smooth things out for shifting etc. He suggested i do that first, get a feel for the car and then decide on the gearbox software.

is it going to be a huge benefit to get it done while the car is there?

Ricardo (RK Motion Durban) also adjusted parameters on my relatives E90 320d that I took in for a stage 1 tune a few months ago and I felt a noticeable difference in changes - much smoother and a little quicker in Manual mode so definitely experience that before you decide to go xHp.

Yup I'm going to rk end of next month when motor plan expires. This will be my third rk tuned car. Never had a days issue.

Where will you get the DP done?

Nice bud - RK has also done many cars for my circle of family, friends and clients. Will not use another tuner ever...petrol or diesel 👌

330d honeymoons last very long - enjoy bud
The question is how long will my bank balance honeymoon last :ROFLMAO:

Aside from the few mods happening this week, looking at a few cosmetic changes and getting bluetooth in that car. It has the standard bmw professional unit.

Have the parrot kit in there for calls, want to stream music via bluetooth or at least usb/aux

You can always upgrade to an android 10 inch screen. When budget allows

Budget is there but I was hoping to keep it looking standard as it is now, I kinda like the look lol

Have been looking at android units as well, but for now I think I will finish the mechanical list then look at luxuries

Also had my X3 done by RK a few months back with DP as well. Very happy with the outcome - my 320d also has RK and DP.
Currently sitting with them for the rest of this week. Decided to do some other jobbies while the covers are out. Minor fixes then Tony will sort out the map.

Looking forward to having it back soon!

I think the e46 is scared of bein sold/given away so the cold start vanished lol started up one time and drove quietly and happily to work

How was the sound on the 320d as compared to stock. I appreciate the benefits of a down pipe but not the noise as much.

Did you go with a 63 or 76mm dp?

Sound is quite different to stock, went with 73mm DP. I love the sound though, especially startups with the turbo spooling sound, I'm thinking of going straight pipe now!

I also had a Pre-LCI 330d which I did XHP Stage 2 on.It made a massive difference IMO.The shifts were quicker and smoother and the spongey lock-up when pulling away was virtually non existent afterwards.I rate every 6hp box should have XHP software done

With mine, we going with a 76 mm

From what I am told, it will still sound more or less the same but will have more of a grunt when footing it.

Should be decent without much noise when cruising on highway

Thanks for this info, Tony said he will make some adjustments to smooth out shifting as well. He recommended I drive it first after his changes then to do the software if I am not happy.

Yes that lock up you mentioned is quite annoying, especially in traffic

Figures pending....... it is on it's way to the dyno so should get to see comparisons between stock, stage 1 and stage 2

Depending on the gains from 1 to 2, I may decide to keep the stage 2 or revert to stage 1 and do the gearbox tune instead
