'07 320d turbo boosting late

Hi guys

Well after I blew the turbo on my wife's 2007 320d I got the turbo recon'ed fitted back in the car and serviced. The car feels sluggish at lower revs and the turbo kicks in quite late you can feel the boost kick in at 2500rpm there is turbo spool from take off though. In the higher gears the car feel much better provided its a straight road as I drove it up a hill recent and I had to be on a lower gear, higher rev
Any ideas what could be wrong as the car did get all the faults cleared Turbo accuator did not come up with a fault ? Does the car have to be reset using a proper Diagnostics like Bmw GT1 ?

Maybe the guys did'nt recon it properly? Is there any leaks?

Turbo suppose to kick in at 1500 to 1600 rpm, was it tuned?

perhaps they stuffed up the variable vains (VNT) side of the turbo.

Probably because you cannot guarantee that you will be able to get the VNT calibrated after a rebuilt turbo - I don't think anybody in SA has a bench to calibrate these turbos, which is why Garrett advises against rebuilding - just buy a new one, it is worth the cost (compared to a rebuild).
