Tygervallei BMW. Next time I will do that. Just remove the bottom panel to get better access. I started to remove the whole crossmember before realising it did not need to come off.

Dont get me started on those morons.

My 330i was there to diagnose a problem before I purchased it. I asked the previous owner to take it there before I take on a 1600km journey. They tell me the battery cable is toast and needs replacement. Turns out the battery terminal was completely loose. They didnt even have the decency to fasten it.

They plug in the computer, read a code and look up what part needs to be replaced. "Oh, look!! Transfer case error code!! Replace the transfer case... OK, that did not help, must be the gearbox."

Do yourself a favour and change the transfer case oil while you're in there.

My wife's X3 chewed up a transfer case just after motorplan ran out, around 120000km I think. The drive chain was stretched out and made horrible grinding noises. We ended up replacing the transfer case for the sake of having peace of mind.

The yellow lights came on again around 250000km with the clicking noise. I bought a replacement actuator gear drive from ebay for $20 or so, and fixed the actuator, problems gone. I changed the oil at the time, it only takes 1 liter but costs like R700-800 from the dealers.
