Hello Fanatics!

Enter the start of track car build project!

Featuring: Nick (Me) and Craig (My Father)

So what have we got to work with?
Well, it's my ex-daily driven 2001 BMW E46 330i (M). See previous history in this thread here.

She's a titanium silver, pre-facelift, manual 330i with over 330 000km's!

We've got a pretty tight schedule to operate in, in order to be ready for the 2020 BMW Car Club Race Series.

This track car build project will be significantly budget focused, but we'll be looking to spend wisely on the best "bang for buck" components through recommendations and reviews of people who have gone before us.

We'll be striving to prepare a car that will be competitive in class D for the 2020 race season.

Stay tuned for a video link where we will provide a brief overview of the vehicle and discuss our intentions in the 2020 BMW Car Club Race Series.

Naturally, we welcome the input from the wealth of knowledge existing in the BMWFanatics community and await your comments and advice!

Awesome Nick. If your K75 build is anything to go by, then this will be nothing less then epic.

Good luck :praise:

OK guys. turns out we’re not just rookie Racecar builders, we’re also pretty thick at putting YouTube vids together. But I think we have it now, take a peek at this:

I love seeing sh!t like this. Myself and my dad have been racing for about 4 years now. Started by sharing a car and we each have our own now and it's become a family affair with the wife and kids joining from time to time. lot's of hard work but the fun out on the track outweighs it 10 fold.

One word of advice, do not skimp on safety. I spent all my money on a proper seat, harness, race suit and those kind of things. Don't get lured into the trap of wanting to make more power or get nice (read ricer) things if the basics are not in place.

Most of all have FUN!

Sounds like an amazing project, Looking forward to the rest of the build. Nice job on the video... All the best and good luck with it... :bravo:

Hey Pakimonster
Spot-on with the advice.
Rules of the build, in order of priority:
1. Make safe
2. Make light
3. Make stiff & grippy
4. Make stop!
5. Make aero
6. Make power

Spent quite some time researching human survivability under extreme deceleration, then designing seat mounting to ensure mounting strength exceeds G-force survivabilty. Yup, I’m anal like that.

So, a bit of a frustrating delay for this weekend. We were hoping to get the car back from TNT, but it wasn’t to be. Didn’t matter though - we ended up spending the day trying to diagnose a no crank issue on Nick’s E60, which seems to have taken leave of its senses.

In the meantime though, the last of our catchup videos - after this, we should be posting stuff in “real time”
