Hey Gents

I have been apart of this forum for a number of years now and have never really started a thread with regards to my baby (335i)

After some thought and deliberation - i have decided to finally go for it.
for those whom like to read - enjoy
for those that don't sorry - but its a write up from over 2 years of playing around with the car..

here goes ......

I have had many BMW over my years of driving cars, from e36 325i to e90 335i's,
(can be viewed in My Garage Link) but have never really played with performance, always said if i want fast, buy fast until i met some crazy fanatics on this group whom showed me otherwise...
:ty:

At the time i was driving my 320i coupe when i got a call from my sale rep at Menlyn BMW whom said - "bud i have just received a 335i e92 n54 DTC - one owner, lady driver." i Immediately said awesome, sort paper work out without even looking at nor test driving the car.
My sales rep was shocked and said don't i wana test - i said no need to , i know the N54 335 well (some may say risky - but that's life)
He then proceeded to Finalize all the paper work so that i could take collection of the beauty.. a Couple of pictures were sent to me of which i picked up that the car was wrapped in carbon from day one...only question i had was , "what colour was under the wrap?', he said BLACK SAPHIRE - immediately i said please remove wrap as i love a black bmw.

As you can see the wrap was faded - so wise move on my side by requesting wrap be removed.

Delivery day - All Excited like a child on Christmas waiting for his presents.
I finally get to the Dealership to see the end product of my purchase - and to NO dismay - a beauty parked in front of me...you can only imagine the smile on my face.

At this stage i was over the moon with just the stock features of the car and not to mention again my 313's i transferred to the beauty.

At this stage the car was performing optimally with no hiccups what so ever.
I was asked to represent SRSpeedworx on a show called Tuned in SA where the car featured on TV.
This took place at Swartzkorp Race Track - a day of fun whereby we were allowed to track the car for while before it was featured on the show.

A Couple Short vids on YouTub of the Airing & Some pictures

img-20150224-wa0050_7781106601.jpg

After all the Features and few track day out i decided that it was time to do some TLC on the car as well as some Custom work again - I get bored with the look of the car very quick - also the fact that it was on Tuned in SA and Cops would be aware of the green tuned car on the streets
A Mate Anton and myself decided that we want to do the colour change to vinyl and some minor servicing on the car ...lol i say minor

to do list

*Custom Colour change to Red
- Red Spliters, Skirts, Mirror covers, and bootspoiler
* Added custom coated set of Injen Intakes

* Change Tappet Cover Gasket
* Change Oil Housing Gasket
* Change Oil and Coolant

Man - this was a mission as we did all of this at home, we had to strip all parts from the engine bay, labeling each part so we would remember what went where when we reassembled. this whole process took us an entire weekend and a solid night included... but we came out on top at the end of the weekend with the car all fresh and purring again.

A Big Thanx to Anton - a true mate for sure.

here are some of the pix of my baby striped/Naked and the all dressed in red

At this stage in this crazy journey i was in the process of opening up Masstronix Performance Tuners and had a Fall out with SRSpeedworx.
Never the less - i must thank SRSpeedworx for all that they did for me and all that we achieved together. Thank you Guys.

Hereafter all modification and tuning was Done by Myself and with some Assistance from FR&R with installations and Firi/Rennzsport.
A new journey with greater results ahead ..........

As Myself and SRSpeedworx parted ways - i ordered my Vargas Stage 2 + Kit which i anxiously awaited to arrive in SA along with my Newly ordered Ericsson Amuse Front Bumper & Vented Carbon Bonnet.
After 6 months of waiting - Finally my New toys arrived, i race off and collected.
Now the install to begin and new tuning to happen. All this mere weeks before BMWfanatics first ODI. 2 weeks if i am not mistaken before the Race Day of which Masstronix was a Sponsor.

To do List at this time

* Custom parts to be installed
- Ericsson Amuse Front Bumper
- Supplied and Installed by J&K Customs
- Vented Carbon Bonnet
- Supplied by Fir/Rennzsport
- Removed all red Vinyl from the - YES GONE

Once all additions where done, i tested the beast on the R21 doing some strong pulls and fine tweaking the file i was working on. The backend was created to run JB4 map 3 daily with Pump fuel (95) and as much octane that i felt like using when i wanted to. The aim was to get a reliable daily file that would not take too much out of the cars use. I managed to achieve this eventually after a good few nights of playing around. _ a thank you to the wife for putting up with me during this time...:blowheart:

Once i had completed all that i could in the time that i had, i took the beast to FR&R to dyno the car the day before Fanatics Race Day (Chris Happened to be there at the time and welcomed me in to the 500+hp club)

Figures the day before Race......378wkw (507hp) & 619nm
This was on Map 3, Meth + 40% Eth
Sadly i did not get a chance to Tune a Map 6 - Race file before Race Day.

Again - To No Dismay - the Car Performed the way i expected it to...like a beauty

After race day - the wife and i made our way down to KZN for a weekend, where i took the car to Stealth to play around on the Dyno. With Some Help From Ashen at Stealth We managed to achieve some good figures of
....481wkw & 773nm (with 40% Eth - Map 6 JB4)
(I believe Hamza Akoo was there with us from Global Tuning)
before i had to run off to a wedding..tuning was placed on hold and stopped for a while as i did not get a chance to head back to stealth to finish up

Here are some vids of Race Day and Some runs when i was tuning car as well as some pictures of how she looked at the time.

After these great Achievements - i sadly ran into some personal Problems financially with someone owing me a kak load of money which set me & the family back substantially. This is when i took the decision to Strip my Baby to the stock bone and sell off all parts and eventually sell her as well.

I took the car to Stealth Kempton Park whom is now eBoost Tuners
(Kicked out by Riaz from Stealth for his Kak)
Whom assisted me in removing all the parts so i could sell them off.

https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=75985

All parts were removed as requested and sold as per thread link above. As you can see i had done quite a lot to this beauty of a car and was gutted that i had to strip her down to stock...but we all have to do what we have to when the time arises.
With all of this said - here is were it just got worse for me, I get a call from eBoost Tuners to say that the car does not want start. i was shocked as it was a 200% error free car. I rushed over had a look, reloaded a stock fiile and bobs your uncle she started first time, no issues at all, Let her idle for 30min, switched her off, waited 10min, started her up again first time, took her for a drive. All Good, so i gave the go ahead to sell as planned. 2 days later i get a call again, the car cannot start and buyer was on his way to view and collect if happy. I said i left the car in working order i expect it to be the same when buyer get there, sadly this was not the case, the car was simply fk'd up (Excuse the language - um sure you can feel my Anger and Pain) Eventually i had the car put on a Flat Bed to be brought to my House. On upon arrival i had a look to see what the issues could be, and to a stunned, shocked, disgusted look on my face, my car was literally striped bare, panels were off the car, the boot was stripped solid, Modules where missing, Under seat Subs removed..it was truly a sad sight to see such a pristine car come back looking like a piece of trash.
I later after calming myself down sent to a BMW Specialist down the road from me (Craig from BMW Menlyn) he went over the car with a fine tooth comb and sorted out the issues, which was the wiring in the car which had been damaged, ONLY god knows why this was the case, But at least she was running again at an extreme Cost. After that i then sent her to a Panel beater to get all the interior and Boot Sorted out - Again More cost - eish
(Cost to flat bed, Cost to assess and fix - we all know BMW is not cheap toy)

After all of this, she was put back together and in running order, not the best running order but running order needless to say.

Here are some pictures of the whole debacle

I would like to give a Massive Thank you To all that have helped me on this crazy 2 year journey, we have some truly great Forum members that i can proudly call friends today.

I will try and keep this thread up to date with all the new changes that are to come in time..thanx for reading :ty:

i red that entire thread, and from start to finish its been a ride, with some hiccups and celebrations.

Congratulations on the transformation.

I am looking at a white e92 335i DCT which ive applied for finance on.
despite the modifications, have you had any issues with the car apart from the being stripped and not looked after at that point in the thread?
Ive rad the DCT Gearbox is flawless and can handle alot, and with minimal, if any, maintenance.

Hey Bud
Thanx

Apart from the hiccups

I have not had any unforeseen issues with the 335i
The box is solid and can handle the stress
I have seen mine hit close to 800nm of torque and no issues
If you look after your car - you will enjoy every moment of it

Bear in mind that all cars regardless of Brand, Make etc will have its own snags that can be dealt with

Hope yours comes through - you wont turn back

WOW what a project! Cannot believe you sold all those mods to start from scratch all over again.

The power you were making at one stage was intense, how was it to drive?

Excellent news, thank you for the information.
the one im looking at is 158 000km, so i believe a good service, regardless when it was last done, will be in order.

im in Fourways, and will definately keep in touch if this comes through. have a few things id like to do in time. but i just want to enjoy it for now.
it a little less power than my Astra Coupe Turbo (182wkw and 460nm) i currently drive, but will be a different feel entirely.

i red that entire thread, and from start to finish its been a ride, with some hiccups and celebrations.

Excellent news, thank you for the information.
the one im looking at is 158 000km, so i believe a good service, regardless when it was last done, will be in order.

im in Fourways, and will definately keep in touch if this comes through. have a few things id like to do in time. but i just want to enjoy it for now.
it a little less power than my Astra Coupe Turbo (182wkw and 460nm) i currently drive, but will be a different feel entirely.

Awesome
Yes - a good service is always a must regardless
And she should have more power than the Opel ;-)

Nice write-up. It's been a long road bro and we wish you all the best going forward. I know how much the car means to you, and I'm glad you rebuilding it. Best of luck .

We'll get the car back to where she was.

I've seen this car transform from day one, i also felt the pain you went through when you got the car back.

She'll rise again.

Stronger than ever
