E38 becoming Old School, but still damn stunning

Have always had a soft spot for these.
Since my first experience of driving in one, have always thought they one of the best built BMW's, back then everything felt like it oozed quality.
Walking out the gym I come across a minter

After seeing the above, had to have a look on google, obviously googling how well they can be stanced. Thought if share some of the pics.

I love these cars
There was an individual sport one for sale not too long ago with the nice black wood interior trim, but the price was a bit ridiculous if you ask me....

There is quite a bit of confusion out there about the double glazing and the idea that they are bullet proof windows. The CX car above with the for sale sign could be a bullet proof model if it is genuinely a "Sekuritat" version. The problem with owning them is that the mass of the car has a huge impact on suspension and brake wear and tear.
I can confirm that the 2001 740i I drive - bought 2 years ago with 80k km on the clock and is now sitting at 136000 km- is the most fantastic vehicle to drive and to own. It averages 14.8l/100km overall. If I do long distances I can get 9.5 to 10l/100km.

They are beautiful. Love the old design language and wish BMW would bring it back.
Seeing these reminds me of when I was a lightie (5yrs) growing up in Romania, yes that's where I'm from, and my uncle who lived in Germany would come home every Xmas with a new BMW to sell on in the country. They were mostly E28's, E23's and E32's.
The local car market was limited to locally manufactured Dacia 1300 (Renault 12) and Trabants and buyers would literally que up at my gran's gate to see the car and almost always a bidding war would start.
Anyway, the sentiments I remember most was the impact these cars had on me. They were mystical, shocking, almost like something forbidden. The sound was hair raising, performance unmatched at the time and they were solid. The smell of leather and cherry perfume addicting and intoxicating.
My uncle loved to drive and would indulge me with prodigious burnouts and powerslides.
This was it for me, I too would grow up a BMW lover like him and I so dearly wish BMW would bring this chiseled, aggressive and masculine design style back with modern engineering. How great would that be?
Alas, it will probably never happen in light of current safety regulations, but I am grateful to have been exposed to the commanding stance of those pretty, old Beemers.
:blowheart:.

Awesome story...
Theres definitely a strong attraction for me as well to this kind of styling... a kind of 'no frills no fuss if you mess with me i'm gona knock your block off' subtlety
