Aircon colder on one side

Hey guys,

It seems that when my aircon is turned on the passenger side of the car gets blown with arctic type winds and the drivers side is mildly chilly.

Any idea what could be the cause?

I had a look at a pic of the Aircon Blower Fan and it seems that it could be responsible?

When was the last time you had your aircon serviced and the dryer canister replaced? This is just the start. Eventually the seals on the compressor will let go and it will start leaking. Don't ask me how I know. But I will tell you this, R3040.00 later, it was repaired.

Ouch :yuck:

Don't want that. Think the aircon was checked and re-gassed last year but don't know if they checked everything.

Ai the list of repairs just keeps growing...

Typical stuff around that mileage. Something big gives like every 75k to 100k. My plumbing is bad. :(

Let us know what's the root cause.

I suggest you take it to a reputable place, as mine starting with re-gassing every 18 months, then every 12 months and the boom. Don't just re-gas it, there is a reason why it's leaking or not working properly.

AC gas pressure is low.

Mine had the same symptom and had the gas vacuumed out and serviced. with oil and new gas and problem solved R350 back in the days at Radio Auto Sonic when they wee still in Parow. If you go read up on the cause it is AC gas low pressure. AC system tends to loose a tiny bit of gas every winter due to not using the aircon in winter. the O rings shrink because there is no circulation of the gas with the bit of oil that causes the o rings to expand.

yeah but ive heard somewhere that if the cabin filter is blocked or bad it can give this symptom, take it out , vacuum it and see if it improves?? 10mins?

Thanks Guys!

Gizmo, I will have them do a full check for leaks.

Thanks Ice, that sounds like a very cheap fix for something that could end up costing thousands.

Thanks Anton, Cabin filter needs to be replaced but its not that bad that it will clog as I look at these items on a weekly basis

Mine had the same symptom, servicing is a temporary fix, get them to replace the seals (o-rings) and the the dryer canister all at once, or else you will have to go back in a year's time and fork out R350 - R400 again.
