0.5 seconds between the 2. So going by the 0.3 second theory......

on the real though, you can hear how a driver just doesn't feel the same way about the Merc as they do about the BMW.
The Merc is a little monster and the shifts are insane.
One thing, I don't think he is doing any justice going to 7,000rpm in the BM though. Car is doing nothing over 6,200rpm

black ed already in the making

lets face it tho, no matter what the competition brings out, the bmw is a drivers car. every single report, over and over again, the bmw is considered more fun and the better balanced car. even when its not even a true M car. for the every day driver, there is merc and audi. credit where its due, as hard as the competition tries, they will never be able to match BMW when it comes to sheer driving pleasure.

great brands amazing cars, up to the individual in the end, i would prefer the BMW simply because of the I6 sound :inlove:, I think the merc is better looking though ...

Personal preference with these. I don't want to sound like a whining child but this guy is a terrible car journalist, just the way he talks about cars, not only this review, all of them, I know 75 year old people that sounds more enthusiastic about biscuits than this guy is about cars. Different strokes . To me the Bmw is ugly. If the new M2 looks anything like the new M4 then i'd sing a different tune. The A45 currently is the one id choose, its faster, AWD, more economic, and to my eyes a LOT better looking. And yes they are already testing a Black series with over 400hp which is good news.
The BmW is the fun one on a track and you can make the back step out, which is the best feeling, but honestly in SA you just cant do that on our roads. So in that case the everyday usability of the power in the merc is the one for me.

yeah he is not my fav journalist, but he comes to the same conclusion every other journalist has come to.

i used to think the same thing as far as looks go but look at what cocopops posted. looks much better than the merc. the back of the merc still worries me. you can add these extras to the M135i and still come in below the merc's price.

now for me, that is MUCH hotter than the merc.

economical? i doubt it. that merc will be a petrol guzzler too, without the the 6 cylinder purr. lets not forget that its MUCH more expensive than the M135i.

then there is the tuning capabilities for those that go that route.

AWD only when needed on the merc, not permanent. understeer much?

And yes they are already testing a Black series with over 400hp which is good news.

the M1 M2 or whatever it will be called will take care of that. even if it is not faster in a straight line, it will be the better car as always.

The BmW is the fun one on a track and you can make the back step out, which is the best feeling, but honestly in SA you just cant do that on our roads. So in that case the everyday usability of the power in the merc is the one for me.

for your average everyday driver the merc is the car to have

I'd say lets wait til its officially running around here in SA, drive it and then make our judgements on the car

Look I was in an A45 around Kyalami two weeks ago, and I've been in the M135i around the same track. To me the A45 is really a phenomenal car and its faster.. Way faster especially to someone that isn't sebastian vettle . The understeer thing is so marginal and can be corrected so easily its not even worth mentioning, its nowhere near the terminal understeer you get from an RS3. I don't get how guys can go on about understeer if majority of the forum members has never even experienced understeer or oversteer. And although almost all of you wont agree, how many of you have been in the Merc before saying its worse? Seriously.
Guys first go drive one and then have a go at it. Lets agree to disagree. And yes you can go put spoilers and wraps and stuff on the M135i in the same way you can photoshop of makeup an ugly girl to look phenomenal. Yes there will be new M cars in a year or two, that will level the playing field.. but at what cost? im not saying in anyway the Bmw is a crappy car, to be honest i think its brilliant , very fast, fun and a pleasure to drive but for buying right now...my money will go to the A-Class. Its just my opinion. I suppose each to their own. I dunno looks pretty good to me from the back.

.. own.

i personally agree with you on almost every point.

if they were similar in price, the merc would get the nod from most non-bmw fans. but to be so much more expensive and offer very little extra, the bmw is the better deal imo. with the money you save going the bmw route you can make the car look very pretty and make it go much faster and still have change

lol no sorry. ignore your quoted bit. i just edited it so as not to quote your entire post. i tend to do that on the longer quotes, else it ends up cluttering up the thread. the " ... " in the beginning and the end just means everything inbetween
