Finally replaced the missing key fob roundel!!

When I bought my car the one key fob was missing its roundel which always bugged me, and from various inquiries nobody seemed to have any available. But today I asked again and lo and behold, they had! So I went though to Forsdicks and R56 later had a shiny new key fob roundel!

So I cleaned the button surface where the roundel goes and the back of the new roundel (no adhesive on the back), then to the back of the new roundel I applied a very small blob of super glue gel, which is easier to work with, and then with some clear sticky tape held the roundel level and placed firmly onto the button surface. Easy as that!

Nice one

Unfortunately I have the old key on my E46 which doesn't have the roundel, my lock button just disintegrated.

Glad i found this post, my key emblem is also worn out, and looking to replace the roundel, how does one remove the old roundel? do you need to dismantle the whole key?

No, its only sticked with a little glue, you would be able to take the old one off with your fingelnail. I sticked my new one on with a small amount of superglue.

I have two emblems on the way, ordered from eBay. There's actually a little slot to the right centre of where the emblem sits for you to stick a tiny screwdriver underneath to pry off the old one if you battle.

BMW do not sell the 11mm emblem anymore.

When refitting, tip, use gel superglue - much easier to work with and less likely to stuff up and cause problems with the button getting glued and no longer working! And, you really only just need a very small amount of glue!
