Probably will affect mp

If you do change it, make sure it sticks out a little so u don't dirty stain your bumper

You have to let it face a little down or your bumper will get black.

The exhaust on the new 1 and 3 series 320d's don't point down anymore.
BMW told me changing the tailpipe only will not affect MP, but they recommend fitting the performance silencer which have straight pipes anyway.

R6K for a silencer is a bit expensive though.

If you de-DPF your car (after MP of course) your car will smoke a cigar!
If your tailpipes point downwards your neighbours will not notice that you started smoking.... with straight pipes however they will :biglol:

Just get an exhaust place to weld you some on....

  • cut old ones off
  • select the ones you like
  • weld new ones on
  • done

I have been investigating this for a while. BMW actually sell an ornamental piece that fits over the downturn exhaust.
PN: 1830 761 8464 - Black Chrome
PN: 1830 761 8463 - Alu- Look
Problem is, its over R900 inc VAT.

While true that the newer BMWs(F30) dont have the downturn, I investigated the design and it is manufactured in a way that doesnt require the downturn.

Not sure yet whether I am happy about that or not yet.
I find it nice to be able to tell a diesel BMW driver from a petrol BMW driver on our roads purely from looking at the exhaust.

But then again, the F30 diesels look very slick with the new black chrome pipe.
