Here is the first pic that some of you may recognize.

My 'new' 10/1996 E36 328i Coupe. German Built.
The day I saw this car I just knew it had to be mine just because it is so scarce and I have been wanting a 328i anyway.

Big thanks to LZ for checking the car out for me.
Thanks to Chris and Don for putting up with all my questions.

So on Saturday (Yesterday) a friend and I flew up to Johannesburg to look at the car and make a final decision.

She is far from cosmetically perfect but she is no dog either. Mechanically she is amazing. Smooth engine and gearbox.

Sorry Sank and Legacy, Still an auto but it's days are numbered, it will be swapped to manual someday.

After a long deciding process I finally decided I will take it and we stated the drive back to Cape Town.

The drive was fantastic, except for a MAF problem that developed before passing Bloemfontein, will need to replace that.
Something that really shocked me was the economy of this car. On a tank I got 700km before I decided to fill up and there was still 100km range left.
We were doing about 7.2-7.4l/100km with a speed of around 110 - 130kph.

She has just under 110000 miles on her now.

Enjoy the pictures, I will post interior shots sometime this week.

Wow, that is an awesome find....:dropjaw: looks very clean.

And no problem in it being an auto, as there are so few of around, let along in this condition so no point in worrying about things like auto/manual.

Freaking awesome! That's a rare find! Actually remember there was something posted about this car a few weeks or so ago! Imported from the UK.

Looks stunning! I see it has PDC which is quite unusual for the E36, at least I think so.

When next in my area, swing past - would love to see her in the flesh!

What do you mean its not a puppy ?

:biglol:

Folks, this car is neat, had the pleasure of seeing this monster in the flesh, and although she is not perfect.... this car is in fantasstic condition..

Exceptionally rare, and everything works, that motor sounds super quiet, and overall this is a well looked after example of supurb german engineering.

Congratz once again bud, and enjoy :)

M5 Wheels? I have CSL's on my sedan. Going to refurb them and see if I will use them.

MAF made the car basically feel like it was choking. Wanted to constantly stall while idling. Giving the maf a proper clean didnt do anything. When the maf is unplugged the idle is fine for a while until the car tries to adapt again. Going to try a second hand maf out tomorrow if I find one.

Thank you so much LZ. You were a major help in this buy. Wouldnt have been able to do this without your insight.

It's a BM, your initials are GC and the plate is BM 11 GC? What a great coincidence. If the 11 somehow has significance, it's amazing...

Great car, coupe E36's are one of my favourite shapes. Enjoy it
