Thanks everyone. Took her on her first "long" 480km trip yesterday first time out on the highway. Did not have full power until my drive back home but wow when it gave me full power I gave it full beans and holy mother. I did not know 2.6 odd tons could move like it does.

Its soooooooo much more comfortable than the X5, the same road i normally travel felt like a runway in the X7 compared to the X5 so very very happy. Just one small note, The M50d was damn quick for its size but at 130km/h it was very very frugal about 14km/l , the M60i not so much  8.7km/l. Yes I know driving a car like this you should not complain but I get a company fuel card and they do complain unfortunately and with me driving almost 40k per year its a massive difference.
Glad you're happy OP. I'd still be mad as hell but you're taking it with the right attitude for your long term mental health!

Lets just all hold thumbs this one is a gem and you just snagged a bad apple last time.

Glad did not create a loathe for the brand.

You made a great choice with the X7 ( SUV Limo, the tech, the comfort, the power).

So sorry once again that you had to endure the X5 nightmare. Enjoy the new car

he he he he. Yeah but they don't fly to the small dorpies I need to go to. Standerton is 480km once a week at least some time 2 or 3 trips depending on breakdowns and so on. Also when I work in say Paarl i make sure i work in school holidays then family goes on holiday while I work. So that is 3 times a year from Jozi to Cape Town and work and back in CPT, that is average 6k km for that one trip so 18k just those 3 trips. Then PE I fly 6 times about a year and drive once school holiday work :D :D :D IT manager for our group. 6 Branches in SA one in Zambia so plenty travel

Just a bit of useless update.

Took the X7 in for 60k service and low and behold what do I see back up for sale. My old M50d. Apparently they replaced eh motor and its going back on the floor for sale. Still the same km on the clock and it took them from Jan 2024 till now to complete the work on it and get it right. Damn I am glad I did not hang on to that one.

This is Shocking to say the least.

In the Ducati world, there is a white 2025 Panigale for sale here in Cape Town, for R650k. Quite a few us know that that bike has been crashed (put down) on 2 occasions, and rebuilt with new fairings and resprayed both times. Its had a lot of work in terms of aftermarket accessories, but its amazing how the target market for dealers on resold cars/bikes that have had major issues or work, are aimed at clients that are not in the know of current knowledge points. Very Sad.

Its CRAZY to know, especially me, what has happened to this car and yet they "fix" it and now trying to sell it. None of the sales people want anything to do with it as they know the history of the car, but now it stands on the floor and they need to convince the next person that this will be a good buy at more than 1.6bar, and even worse there are no comments on it either. WTF shocked is an understatement.

For a person coming to look at a 2023 M50d with less than 25k on the clock almost full house, for 1.6 ish does not look bad especially if you get the history and it has no comments, it looks like an awesome deal.

It is still a beautiful looking thing though.

Its obviously misrepresentation on the part of BMW.
But so what, who will do anything about that? BMW? MIOSA? Consumer Protection? Who?

In the end, some poor sod will walk up and buy that car and love it, blissfully unaware of its past.
and this is true for most things in life.

I have a friend who works in import/export, regularly sees brand new cars damaged quite badly at the ports being offloaded, or loaded from plants here onto ships for export. The cars are driven to the dealership ordering them, repaired and placed on the showroom floor with a huge satin cover and a giant red ribbon.

Buyer never knows a thing. Buyer of a brand new car is never going to take a paint guage along the entire car to check paint thickness etc.
And the world still spins.
