Hi Guys,
Does anyone have experience upgrading from standard seats to Msport seats on a G01 X3? I found some really nice seats at a great price(stripping vehicle) and am considering the upgrade.

My current seats are manual adjustment but the upgraded ones are electric.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Cheers

Have you tried asking chatGPT or checking other X3 forums? It may require coding and perhaps some hardware from the donor car besides just the seats which could complicate it but I'm sure others who have done it and shared it on other forums may be of help...

Simply ask Google AI.
I've asked about adding heated seats and the info given was very accurate! I had done research beforehand.

Have you done the retrofit before? I am looking at installing F80 M3 electric seats into my M140i
Are your current seats electric or semi electric by any chance?
I swapped f80 seats into my e90 which had semi electric msport seats in. With some simple wiring and proper seat module i have fully functional electric seats with memory function.

current seats are not electric. that's where the challenge lies. the f80 seats are fully electric. i believe wiring, coding and the m3 seat module is required but finding someone to assist with this retrofit has been a challenge.

Have you checked the UK sites, many okes have done the swop.
Also, now that I remember...the guy in pretoria who built the 1M swopped car (Designer Rides IIRC) he did seat swop on the car. Maybe give him a call and check if he can do it for you or assist with it?

have done alot of research. have a basic understanding of how it should be wired etc but i wont personally take a chance messing with electronics and wiring on a car.

I did get in contact with Designer rides, unfortunately he advised that they do not install or do retrofits for customers.

Is there no electronics going to the seat at all? Mine just had the electronics for the bolster going to them.

The standard seats do have the seat bolster adjustment and are heated. The f80 m3 seats i have acquired are fully electric but not heated.
Then it will be easy to do the swap. Obviously you will lose the heated function. But you will be able to make all the electronics work. You just need to wire in canbus wires to your seat for the memory function to work. Also get 12v power to the seat light.

I believe there is some coding to do as well for the electronics and memory function to work.
Do you have a tutorial or guide you used for your retrofit?
