hi all.

Just something new i came across recently with my E46 Touring. relevant to the E46 for now, Not sure if the newer models Operate the same way.
Driver door would not open from the outside.

The handle was not Broken, it just would not Catch and release the latch when pulling on the handle.
Internal Mechanism i replaced not too long ago since my original one Snapped on the metal hinge.
it worked for a while then suddently would not release the Latch to open the Door.

I found that there is a 6mm allen key on the door lock Actuator that can be adjusted for the sensativity of the external door handle.
i never knew this existed. Lol

There is a Little Grommet next to the Screws that hold the actuator in place

you remove that and use a 6mm allen key.

Driver door: Turn the Allen screw anti-Clockwise all the way to adjust where the door handle Activates the latch Release
Passenger door: Turn the Allen screw Clockwise all the way to adjust where the door handle Activates the latch Release

Mine, Driver Door, was already turned all the way to the left so i turned it few turns clockWise and then Tightened it back anti-clockwise (As tight as possible) and the handle started working again.

I guess we learn something new Each day.
Just Documenting it on the forum for anyone else having this issue. or if it pops up in future
